Questions for Neuro-Ophthalmologist

Here's a list of questions and answers from Jesse's appointment with the neuro-ophthalmologist.
  1. Can you check for intracranial pressure? Checked for pressure on optic nerve. None found.
  2. Can you check the optic nerve for any other issues? Optic nerve looks great.
  3. What are the risks of damage due to the metopic craniosynostosis? Risks are great if surgery is not done.
  4. What are the risks to his eyes during and after surgery? Surgery reduces risk of issues with eyes. Minimal risk during surgery.
  5. Are his eyes aligned? Are they working together? They are drifting inward at times, but this is normal for his age.
  6. Jesse seems to have hypotelorism and I’ve noticed looking at his photos that they appear to be moving closer together. Will surgery fix this? Yes.
  7. Jesse’s pediatrician was concerned about his lack of tracking objects. I’ve seen him track objects without actively trying to get him to do it. It appears to me that it is more of an issue in getting his attention in order to get him to track an object. What are your thoughts on this? His tracking is fine. The neurosurgeon will have to comment on attention issue.
  8. How often should he be seen before and after surgery? Follow up in 3 months whether or not surgery is recommended.
