Labs & teething & a really bad day

My poor little dude had to have labs done yesterday. And it did not go well. They stuck him three times. The first lady stuck him twice and she just kept digging around each time. Just when I was about to lose it, she'd pull out the needle. So we waited for another lady to get back from break and she stuck him and started digging too. And just when I was about to go off, she got the vein. Poor Jesse was crying so hard I couldn't stand it. They both got lucky because if they wouldn't have got it the third time they would have to deal with one angry momma. Absolutely ridiculous. This was at a lab at the Children's hospital. You'd think they'd have someone that knows how to get blood from a baby without digging around.

The worst part was that I was the one holding him while they did it. And the second time, he moved his arm and the needle went all the way in and he just screamed. It made me sick to my stomach.

That was so hard. By the time I got back to the car I was sobbing. Of course Jesse was fine and even gave the first lady a great big smile while we were waiting for him to get stuck yet again. And as soon as he was in the car seat, he was sleeping. But his right arm is all bruised.

I just really wasn't prepared for this. He always does really well with his vaccinations. I know that's different, but I wasn't prepared for them digging around and having to stick him multiple times.

And to top it all off, in the evening he was having a really hard time with his gums. He's been teething the last couple days from what I can tell. He just kept grabbing my finger and biting it and crying. So I decided to give him some Tylenol. And he choked on it. I mean, not breathing choking on it. Didn't cough or anything, just stopped breathing. He had this awful look on his face and just turned bright red. I had to turn him over and smack him on the back a couple times to get him breathing again. That was the scariest thing ever. I'm just thankful I knew what to do. So if you haven't had an infant CPR/choking class, please go take one because you just never know.

Thankfully, today is a new day and will hopefully be uneventful. And it's Friday so I have the whole weekend to be with my little guy.
