Dr. Fearon on the bulging soft spots

I sent an email to Dr. Fearon about the bulging soft spots and this is what he had to say:
Typically, soft spots that have bulging dura, suggest that it is time to enlarge the skull. If there are times that the dura is soft, then it is less urgent than if it feels tight all the time, in general.
This makes me feel so much better about what has been going on with Jesse. Although bulging, the soft areas remained soft, so it doesn't appear as though it was an urgent matter. It still means he most likely was experiencing increased pressure, but it was probably not at a level to warrant an emergency.

I know that Dr. Fearon doesn't ever recommend helmets for cranio patients, which I don't necessarily agree with as I know some that have had great results after surgery, and of course you need a helmet after endo, but I think in our case he may have just been right about it. Here's his explanation about that:
As I may have explained earlier, bands work similar to creating craniosynostosis everywhere except where you want the skull to grow. It is possible that wearing a band might slightly increase intracranial pressure if a band is preventing the skull from growing the only way it can.
I'm glad someone finally explained the bulging soft spots so that I understood. I feel like our crisis is over, thank goodness!! It's been a scary few days, but with the news about the optic nerve and this explanation, I'm feeling so much better about it.
