We just got back from the ophthalmologist and there is no pressure on the optic nerve! I know that it doesn't mean that there is no pressure, but at least there is not enough to show up there.
The bulges are less noticeable now too, which makes me really think it was the helmet. He's had it off for almost 4 days and it just now seems to be getting better. He's still cranky and grabbing the back of his head. I guess that could be teething though. Who knows. But I believe that if he does/did have pressure, it's starting to correct itself if that's even possible. Which I suppose it could be with the helmet no longer restricting growth at all.
So at this point I believe I'm going to leave the helmet off and just take our chances of needing another surgery. Here's a pic from today. The helmet did help some. I think he would probably be in the mild trig category at this point, but I have noticed it is starting to revert again after having the helmet off.
